>>1456780>>1456740>>1456739Check the underside of the bottom bracket for a serial number. That looks vaguely like a peugeot from around 1988-1991 to me but it may be a motobecane or something else. The 3 braze on cable guides on top & sachs indicate it's a higher end model. Might be pic related, might be different if it was sold in a country other than france or a different year.
French bikes had VERY nice paint jobs and at a higher end the decals are below the clear coat. So if you can, very gently sand off the yellow with a high grit (600-1500 or so) to get under it. You can also test oven cleaner in a spot that won't matter so much, like the dropouts, and see if it lifts JUST the top layer - small squirt, wipe it off, then neutralize it when the paint starts to lift and give it a scotch brite rub.
