I want to do a ~200km ride next year (as in 200km in one day). If my estimations are correct this is roughly a 10 hours ride if my average speed is at 20kmph. How should I train for it? I commute daily (12km in total), but my longest ride so far was 40km. I swim almost weekly and run 5Ks 2-3 times a week. I plan to do more and longer bike adventures to prepare to this big one, but because of time limitations I can't afford going for longer sessions than 4-6 hours at a time, which is roughly 80-120km. Not to mention that when winter comes I think I'll have to retreat to sole commuting when it comes to cycling. How should I prepare? Any special equipment I should acquire (besides flat tire fixing tools)? What kind of food should I pack? Is it wise to take an hour long break in the middle to get something like a pizza or that only gonna fuck me up?
