Of course people on 4chan aren't going to be railfans. Half of all railfans are autistic and the ones who aren't autists aren't the type that would like 4chan. Nonetheless the hobby is very much still alive. Sites like trainorders have hundreds of threads posted daily between the various boards and there are tons of yahoo and Facebook groups dedicated to watching trains. I caught this Siemens Charger (newest passenger engine in America) because of one of those groups.
