>>1701541I liked the supply boats while I worked on them, but I never really ran into a bad crew while I was at hornbeck.
>>1701609They run internal advertisements in the relief pool for mates every so often.
Also I’ve run into two NOAA Corps officers that went to SUNY and graduated with 3m licenses, but they said they also had to minor in environmental science for them to get commissioned
Either way I have yet to meet someone who works on the NOAA ships that thinks anyone in the NOAA Corps actually belongs in the wheelhouse.
>>1701833The NOAA Corps officers do literally no science work while they’re assigned to the ships, they serve in place of mates and that’s all, outside of working logistics for getting scientist equipment to the dock to load aboard the ship, and getting the boat in place to deploy instruments, they are completely hands off from handling any data.
On the survey boats they’re a little more involved, but on the fishing boats and oceanographic ships they’re hands off.
>>1701770I’ve met three that were actually competent shiphandlers.
>>1702559I generally post pics when I’m at work, but I’m off for two more weeks, have some photos I found showing the damage to the bayou
