https://www.reddit.com/r/FixedGearBicycle/comments/14avt66/picked_this_beauty_up_today_what_do_you_guys_think/how true is pic related? how bad are ass savers really with 25mm gp 5000 tires? keep in mind there are different versions of ass savers, the original version that has been copied a lot has a flimsier attachment and is much shorter than the latest version. and how much ass splash are you really getting if you do smooth braking? think about it, when you ride at a constant speed the bulk of the water droplets from the tire will hardly catch up to you, maybe a tiny spray from the wetness of the upper part of the tire that moves at a higher speed than you. especially if you only ride short distances and wear cycling shorts, you can just wash the shorts afterwards regardless of if they get wet or not. i can't really justify the expense of the win wing or other fenders, they're heavier and probably less aero too.
