I feel like archologies needlessly overengineer and "megaprojectize" the whole sustainability thing which can be reached exponentially more easily on a smaller scale. There's neither any urgent need to build these giant, extremely dense structures for sustainability, nor do I see much of a point to an arcology's sustainability claim in the first place if you have to erect these monumental amounts of processed materials for it. The way sustainability makes sense to me is to utilize technology to solve problems nature can't, not the other way around.
