>>1440867Hold off on riding over curbs. Don't it too much or too hard will mess your wheels up (they'll wobble and rub against the brakes as you ride). It costs about $40 to get a wheel "trued"when this happens.
My advice to a noob is use your body weight. Don't sit on the bike like you're driving a car. Keep your weight on your feet, keep your core strong, keep your hands loose. When making a tight turn, take even more weight off of your ass. Keep the pedal/foot on the inside of the turn in the up position so you can lean the bike into the turn without striking your pedal on the ground. Stand up out of the saddle and move the bike, keep your body relatively vertical, don't lean it. Treat the bike more like a skateboard than a car.
You'll get really good with your bike over time. You can get to know them very well
