Replaced the wheels on mine after like 4 years when they started feeling really concave. Going by the wear indicator they still had some life but whatever. I rode more per week but not in winter so maybe it's roughly equal. The stock wheels were pretty cheap iirc. New wheels on that level should be under $200, not that bad of a recurring cost if you ride a lot IMO. These for instance:
