>>1939974Explain to me exactly how an expensive frame is better in any significant way then a normal cost frame ($1000 or under)
Marginal gains only matter in the top range of bike racing.
Carbon:
1) "aero" = marginal gains, the bicycle is a tiny percent of the total air resistance
2) "stiffness" = this stiffness has never been quantified into performance gains. At best it gives a better ride feel. Its just a vague marketing term.
3) "ride feel" = yes it feels different. If you already feel good on your bike, then little benefit.
Steel:
1) "stiffness" = this stiffness has never been quantified into performance gains. At best it gives a better ride feel. Its just a vague marketing term.
2) "ride feel" = yes it feels different. If you already feel good on your bike, then little benefit.
Aluminium:
Alu needs no marketing justifications to sell it. People buy them anyway, its the default go-to bike frame material and nobody questions it's value.
Only reason to buy Carbon or Steel bike frame is because its cool. Thats it. Fite me
