When you say "more bike lanes/trails", that to the public usually is interpreted as the shoulder-bike lanes or dedicated MUP/bike paths. When this initial support turns roads into pic related and understandable pushback, screeching about NIMBYs and the auto/oil industry makes it harder and harder to get anyone on your side.
