Lads... Very specific issue. I was taking apart the shifter on my '94 rigid frame mtb and a bolt sheered. Pic related, it's the 'shifting lever unit fixing bolt'. And so now the end is still in its nut, which looks to me to be very non-standard. The metals inside have corroded and fused so I'm considering them to be a lost cause. But the rest of the shifter is basically pristine. Not a hint of corrosion anywhere else, so I'd hate to replace the original shifters.
What do you think are my odds of being able to find a spare? Not sure if similar old Shimano shifters will have the same nut, I should do more research. Failing that I'll just find a regular bolt and nut of the right size and Dremel/file the nut into the right shape.
