some of it is in using lesser quality plastics and metals
also its an obsolete design, they most likely bought the tooling second hand to set up their production
the real shimano ones are fairly good
but the clicks on the fake ones are a bit chunky, still works tho
the ones in your link are advertised as being friction only
odd compared to all the clones I have seen IRL

the little bit of plastic on top is sitting around an 8 sided bolt head
but does not provide much leverage
