I got annoyed when the new ant colony refused to move out of the dirty test tube, despite me shining light into it. I didn't give it proper protein when the pet store stopped selling live fruit flies. I sprinkled dried flies around it, but they never touched them, so I just left it like that for several months. Around ten workers were left, half the number before. I decided to try to take proper care of it, but the ants continued to die until there was only the queen left. It didn't take any food, so I tried to force feed it by dropping a dead fly into her home, but it must have been stressed or something, because it died. Almost exactly a year later.
When it died, it was breeding season again, so I caught another queen and decided to take good care of that one. I got fruit fly cultures, and set up two lines. It went well, but I threw it all out one day. It was too much work making new fruit fly cultures, and dumping out excess fruit flies, and chasing escapees. I then decided that I don't have the correct personality to keep pets.
