Since then, since Portland has such small city blocks, and the trains are surface running in all but a few places, the trains are limited to 2 cars, limiting its capacity. There are plans being put forth to tunnel under downtown and cut the number of stations down, which would speed up east-west transit times significantly, along with the new line to Tigard in the southwest. There are also several BRT improvements being made to key streets.
