remind me why it's so taboo to use a slightly longer stem especially if you you want to try the aero hoods position? you would think 120mm is within reason but some people seem to think you should stay within 100-110mm if you have the correct size frame for your height. i have long arms for my height and i would say i have above average flexibility and from searching for info on stem length i found this thread about how contrary to popular belief you can get in a more comfortable position by getting more stretched out on your bike. i'm trying to decide between -17deg 110mm or -17deg 120mm for my build but i'm leaning toward 120mm because with a shorter stem i think i would tend to be cramped like in the bottom of pic related. in the worst case scenario the 120mm stem might feel too long and then i can swap it out for a 100-110mm stem no big deal but if i had gone with a 110mm stem it might feel decent and like there would be no point to buy a 120-130mm stem but i might be left wondering what it would have been like with a 120mm stem.
