Almost everyone from elsewhere in the U.S. or the world has complained to me about the cost though, especially the suburban rail lines which can be frustratingly infrequent. Some inner city stations were and still abysmal despite the occasional cleaning but these are generally not the main termini and are predictably in zombie and super neighbor land. Still, reno on the major stations has been frustratingly slow and being in them especially at night can be extremely boring as everything closes early (an endemic Philadelphia problem). The mess of gates and turnstyles in Suburban Station make you feel like literal cattle.
