Went for a little father son bike ride this evening. Met at the local LBS this afternoon and helped him buy his first road bike, a Fuji Sportif 2.5 in Blue. A 2020 model with Tourney but can’t argue with the price. Similar experience to my bike but fresh new components, felt nice. Shop owner even threw in some free tools (one which I actually didn’t have yet.) A casual 6 miler around the park and some neighborhoods after dinner to get him acquainted with it - he hasn’t owned a bike since he was a little kid. Weather and ride was pretty nice but I can see there will be some learning pains and time needed with shifting.
