The rear rack is made of aluminium covered with rubber to avoid the slipping of the selfmade steel nest installed over it. The stainless steel nest make easy putting annoying loads like sleepbags. The nest also increase useful Surface of the rear rack.
The rack can resist off-road in light loads, but i try to avoid off-road all i can when using it.
