I fitted some 26x2.3" tires to my bike, I got the wheel true enough so that there was no rub on the chainstays, but still only being maybe a millimeter or half of one of clearance on each side. After a single ride, my wheels became out lf true enough that it was rubbing pretty badly, they're low end wheels and it seems to only take a few solid bumps to knock them out of perfection. It's not realistic for me to true wheels after every single ride.
I was wondering, would I be disadvantaged if I were to remove these webs from the dropout to move the tire further away from the dropouts? Picture isn't mine, but it's the same. I feel like this would open up my window of clearance to where this is no longer a problem.
