Why aren't cities that already have trams adding trolleybuses to serve the less busy routes?
Amsterdam was planning to replace all conventional buses with (in-motion charging) trolleybuses. This would have been incredibly cheap because all major streets already have the required power supply and constructive wires for the tram catenary. The buses would have ran as trolleybuses in the center, charging enough to continue wireless into the suburbs. Without giving any reason they now decided to go with normal electric buses so all termini will be filled with useless charging buses in 2020.
Any examples of cities who made the right decision here?
