>>1457472>So, this is like, a diesel electric train sort of thing?yep! it's whats used in the big boy commercial stuff and soon car companies will stop trying to use their ancient piston engine tech for gas power as institutional momentum was one of the driving forces behind keeping pistons around
>>1457484>major delivery firms have electric trucks/vans herei doubt many of them have fleets that are majority electric and most of them are just using it for publicity
and also those bigger fleets can afford to take vehicles out of service for 2-6 hours i guess better than small businesses
but trust me... there will be no competent small business owners that operate on a delivery model that will willingly choose battery electrics as that makes their small business fundamentally more vulnerable to extraneous circumstances and their margins are a lot tighter with not just money but time
>hey anon i have a contract with you for delivery X and your driver is not here yet>oh yeah sorry his battery ran out of power so he is charging his vehicle and will be there 4-8 hours nope.jpg
and the bottom line would be that batteries fundamentally take more planning and expose you to more danger as a business owner or private contractor so it's fundamentally suboptimal
