However, that might be a long time coming because of how long construction projects take. I agree that Melbourne's existing infrastructure is bursting at the seams at the moment, before projects like the SRL would take shape. Hopefully other improvements like much more frequent trains (every 10 minutes at the minimum) along existing lines like the Glen Waverley are still implemented and not neglected, as we still need them now.
There's actually a bit of detail and planning gone into this, going off the Strategic Assessment from their website (

Together with the Airport link I hope there are more rail announcements to come. Though, just watch the Libs try to torpedo this.
