thanks Anon. this is giving me good memories. i was subscribing to bicycling magazine back in those days. i bought an aluminum bonded trek 7000, in whatever year it came with the radass purple-green front to back fade paint around that time. still have it. when the STX-RC drivetrain on it finally kicked the bucket and decent 7spd parts became too difficult to find cheaply, i converted it to a single speed with an eccentric flip/flop (fix/free) rear hub. it's still a blast. the elastomers in the old manitou fork i put on it are completely shot and stiffened, but it just looks so cool i leave it on. i don't need the suspension anyways.
