The tarp with mesh tent combo is the most comfortable bike-portable setup I found, but it depends too much on ideal circumstances to be practical. You need 2 trees at a correct distance AND even and clear ground between them AND for it to be in a secluded spot. It's increasingly hard to find those places since in younger industrial forests the ground is plowed before they're planted, and those are unfortunately the most common forests here.
This tour I spent both nights on tilted ground where I kept rolling over when I tried to sleep on my side. I think I'll give hammocks another shot.
