I encountered an extraordinarily slick patch of ice while I was out this morning, I think it had a thin layer of water on top. Even going straight the front tire slipped out on me. Thought I was crashing for sure, but somehow I ended up with one foot planted firmly, the other kicked outward, the bike laying on the ground sideways supported by the handlebar and me holding myself up with the other end of the handlebar. Its helpful that I can instinctively unclip from my pedals instantaneously. Shouldn't have ice too much longer, I'll have to be careful in the mornings riding without studs.
