I changed the 8 for a 7 speeds freewheel. I read some time ago that 8 speed Campagnolo shifters were compatible with 7 speed Shimano gearing due to the space between sprockets (shimergo or shimagnolo).
At first I was skeptical about it, but wow! The difference in shifting is way too much. I can't believe I haven't did it before!
Now I only have seven gears, but the shifting improved a lot, and now I'm really comfortable with it.
Even better, now the gearing is 13-28 instead of 13-21. All came right after all, and I'm really happy.
