>>1998961Walked into a bicycle store for the first time since I broke my arm almost 15 years ago from a nasty fall on a bike. Guy grabbed me and I spent like 2 hours in there as he was showing me everything and telling me all about the different bikes. Came to to this bike. Instantly in love. Low step is so comfy and the handlebars were higher up so I didn't have to slouch down as much. I'm pretty much dead set on going back there in a couple days with 1k in cash and getting the bike, a helmet, and chain.
The guy said that they could adjust it for me however I want.
The bike is a Verve 2, it has the front handlebar stem thingy that is adjustable to be able to angle back. I was thinking of asking him to adjust the seat slightly down (maybe an inch) and adjust the handlebars so that they are almost all the way up and back. Basically I want to turn the bike into an almost upright bike.
Why do most bikes have your ass in the air and the handlebars low? Is it just speed? Cause of my accident I'm afraid of going fast. I just want a comfy and safe ride to go to local parks, maybe ride to the gym or to work if the weather is nice.
>find out what a "dutch bike" isOh.
There is a local store that sells refurbished dutch bikes for half the price of the Verve. Should I just get a dutch bike? Advice? Realistically am I ever going to need a "hybrid" if at most I would be going on gravel or grass?
