why do you even bother.

speed perception is logarithmic
> 60 kph mean speed --> 100 kph: "great!"
> 100 --> 140 kph "good"
> 140 --> 180 kph "small improvement"
> 180 --> 220 kph "meh"
> 220 --> 260 kph "didn't notice"

also, a highspeed/highcapacity railway network is only good if local railways are good as well.
there's not much sense in doing 90% of the trip in 67 minutes and the remaining 10% requires three hours of bus transfers + taxis.
