At the Silk Market in Beijing you can get a quality Louis Vuitton handbag at a fraction of the company price or one that looks perfect but will fall apart in weeks.It definately makes sense that they might be made somewhere else or be made with cheaper metal or whatever. My guess would be that fake KMC is not a bad chain but it's not a great chain either which KMC are.
