Guys...I need to get this off my chest.
HOW can in this board and general be transportation and urban planning focused when you all seem to HATE automobiles and aircraft? It appears as though that if you are not shuttled by rail like cattle or exerting physical energy with either peds or bicycle then the transportation is SHUNNED. Urban planning here consists entirely of the deconstruction of airports and automobile road infrastructure.
This disdain especially for the automobile can ONLY be because much of you are too poor to own a respectable one. Yes there are many issues with automobile infrastructure but the cure is not to get rid of them. It is a mark of a first world country where much of her citizens have a personal air conditioned space to travel wherever he pleases. A first world country is NOT one that confides her citizens only to walk, bicycle or pack rat scuttle for their daily travels.
ALL of you need to read Suburban Nation to learn that places need to be made for coexistence. For what good are the efficiencies of the multitudinous transportation types if they are shunned for merely existing?
