>>1223213Probably. For real, super huge A380 sized craft could become doable if they could take off from a normal jet runway, but the tech for that won't exist for at least 50 years. GE has been experimenting recently with ultra high bypass jets (more intake = more ignition per oz of fuel = more thrust), but for it to really hit it's stride fuckhuge engines will have to be mounted above the wings or fuselage. Boeing and Airbus are not ready for this yet, although the USAF's C-5 replacement in the mid 2020s will probably start it as the USAF wants a hybrid wing body (which needs engines placed on top).
