I swapped tires today, and... I had completely forgotten about this. A bit over a year ago a piece of liquor bottle glass (thick stuff, from the bottle base) went through the whole assembly.
When I patched the tube, I installed it in the same orientation, reasoning that the thicker patch area would be less likely to bulge out, wear a pin hole, etc. And it held up... though perhaps I was just lucky.
I'm wondering, is there any better solution? For a tear/cut through the tread area (not sidewall).
I know those Park Tool boots exist, and using a $1, and somewhere there's that Jobst pic with a piece of silk.
Has anyone here booted a tire, and had it hold up well? What did you use?
And because I didn't mention it specifically, this was a Panaracer Race C Evo 4 tire, Schwalbe SV18 tube, and a Rema patch.
