Only difference will be, little softness in rear brake due to long cable stretch and less modulation - but there is even less with V brakes unless they are Deore/XT level parallel link with mint wheels.
Always had brake issues and ruined wheels nonstop, even with decent shimano Vs. Now been running mechs for 5 years problem free. The bike with BB7 is still on it's original pads even.
