Glasgow has the largest urban railway network outside of London, and for about 30 years had its own distinct branding and was integrated with its subway line and bus routes.
Then the buses were privatised, separating them from the railways and subway.
Then the railways were privatised, but at least the SPT brand still existed.
Now only the subway is run by SPT, the 2nd largest urban rail network is now absorbed into ScotRail, which operates the entirely of Scotland's railways.
A concept such as the Glasgow Overground can easily be made real overnight, it has been done before.
