'Rough stuff' riding and wilderness/trail riding etc has been around forever, but the megacorporations that own cycling need to keep pushing new gimmicks in order to convince retards that they need a new bike every year, when only a few years ago you'd buy a bike for life that could easily be adapted for pretty much any role except extreme niche activities at the pro level.
