>>1712402I rode to a local trail today and did some technical stuff on this for the first time. Really fun. I was thinking about it and changing it and stuff. And thinking on the way there how grabby the v-brake in the front is.
When it got muddy and I was on steep stuff, that hard nasty edge got taken off and the brake was just really good. I think that's the point of v-brakes. They can afford to get worse. Cantis are perfect but once you introduce mud and loose steep stuff, they are sketchy as all hell.
It's like how spongy bad feeling brakes in the stand might be good when you ride them. V-brakes come into their own.
And v-brakes being nasty and grabby is also fine on true beaters which almost would be fine with no brakes and just shoe braking.
