it's funny how random your luck is on the bike
>be riding home from work at 6pm, going down the city's steepest hill which happens to be a one lane ""avenue""
>fuckhead bus driver took the wrong turns at the middle of the descent and locked the whole traffic
>didn't noticed that and got up to speed, see cars stoped side by side (on a one lane way with parked cars), probably at 50kmh
>me options are either crash in the back of a suv and die or crash the back of a gm celta and possibly die, both are less than 10m away and closing in
>at the last minute gorilla grip back brake and make terrific skid noise, bike goes straight in the corridor of cars (less than a meter wide, luck my bars are 380mm)
>bus still in the middle of the avenue, back brake again and rear wheel passes by scraping cars by the side
>honking and loud yelling
i commute daily through heavy traffic both on downtown and on highways, that was the one situation i honestly accepted i would just crash and get fucked
however, more recently
>going to work late as usual, sort of in a hurry
>take the first sharp corner to exit a roundabout, cars passing by the side
>too close for my taste, goes more to the right of the lane to have more space, front wheel gets stuck on the gutter (height difference of 2cm from the pavement and 4 cm from the sidewalk)
>forgot what happened next, only remember to arrive at home almost passing out, not sure how
>lost memory of the entire day and some hours before it
>couldn't even recognize at first sight my father car (he got it this month so i'm just not used to it really, still)
>arm has nasty road rash, actually burned
>doctor says i have to do a tomography, helmet got badly compressed on impact zone
>everything seems ok up there, he tells me to avoid riding until the headache stops, says something about brain damage being cumulative (not my first time there)
wear your helmet and pray to god and la madonna del ghisallo for safe and sound riding lads
