Other strategic bombers (those which were not primarily tasked with nuclear ordinance delivery) such as the B-52 and the B-1 remained because of their effectiveness in conventional warfare. In addition, the introduction of Soviet surface to air missiles eliminated the purpose of a high altitude supersonic bomber as the interceptor was no longer the primary adversary.
It was a cool plane but obsolete almost from the get go.
