>>1506532>Thanks for the tips on Italy. I don’t have any preferred route there yet, just need to cross it somehow. What’s so good about Hamburg? I’ve never been.About Italy, I just wanted to cycle along the Po because there is a international cycling route there and some awesome cities somewhat off the beaten track. I never cycled there and it is simply a personal preference. They say most of the track is on the dam of the river with little to no shade, so there is that.
For Hamburg, the cycling roads along the coast and down the Elbe to Hamburg and from Hamburg to Berlin are excellent and it'll probably be faster than weaving your way via Hannover-Wolfsburg and the backroads. Also Hamburg is just a great city, laid back friendly people, good mix of everything. Good pubs, good food, good parties. The local Astra beer is shit, nice open people, ok cycling network, and some harbour groove to go with it. Berlin is nice too, but imho more fucked up than Hamburg, in a way that there are areas where you really need to be on guard. What I really recommend is cycling around northern Brandenburg, Schorfheide along the Finow Kanal is a beautiful stretch of Germany
