Does anyone know of any good flying boats in current or past production that an upper middle-class mate could afford (less than $1,000,000)? I don't really have any requirements for it other than that it is a flying boat (for aesthetic reasons), although the ability to carry a few passengers or a couple hundred pounds of cargo would also be nice. Reliability would also be nice as I intend to die of alcoholism, not a plane crash.
Also, is there a special endorsement or something you need on your license in order to fly seaplanes? I know absolutely nothing about aviation, but now that I've got a career and disposable income I'd love to learn.
