>>1618820if you're using that brass crane suzu, that could be the problem. I have an unlacquered copper crane on one of my bikes and the sharp high note it produces spooks people, especially kids. Their lacquered bells are better as the lacquer takes the edge off. But the best is an old german or french bell like pic related. The sound is classic, instantly recognizable, and pleasant, and I get positive reactions.
