One must strive - must take pride - in able to service the things around them: their bike, their home, their wife, their car etc. Using your funds to support local shops is admirable and all but a smart man does not pay outrageous amounts of money for services that could be easily learned and/or services that do not provide significant time-cost benefits. Additionally, finding quality service that does compromise your safety or the integrity of the bike is hard to find.
