Lufthansa was even flying from frankfurt to detroit on a 319 last I checked. Next logical step is to start orbiting tankers somewhere over eastern canada so that they can do a 100% economy class 757 LAX to paris nonstop
Anyway if you lived through the nightmare that was the middle section of a DC10 you'd be grateful that narrowbody long haul flights exist
