>>1979944>the thing that far more commonly causes that issue also is poorly cut cable housing, like when noobs do it with sidecuttersnot going to lie to you, i have been using the original (?pic rel) coil wound piece of housing, which is now 40 years old. I'll swap it out and see what happens, I just left it because it looked cool and the cable seemed to move freely inside of it, like it doesn't bind at all. Also since it's the only gear housing on the bike, new cables are 2 bucks and total and I don't have to bother with cutting and smoothing housing. I genuinely do not know what it's lined with, though. I would assume some kind of plastic. But I have had other dt friction bikes with the same type of housing without this issue.
>I'd also be looking for a bent hangerThis is probably likely as well, as I have taken a few spills off-road and what not. I have been intending to make my own hangar gauge rather than spending $90 on the park tool one, I just haven't been to the hardware store. There is other evidence of this as well, but bending the hangar into alignment just has continuously slipped my mind even though I know it's something I need to do. I really don't trust the shops around here as they've proven to be somewhat incompetent in the past.
The chain and cassette are relatively new shimano products, maybe 500-600 miles on them?
This problem has been incessant since I bought the bike with the 27" wheels and 6sp freewheel it came with. I was running a pair of sl-1055 shifters(obviously it went away with indexing), but once my 600 tricolor rd developed so much slop and blew apart, I had to go back to the original sl-6207 due to not having a barrel adjuster on the old 600ex rd.
I'll run down to the hardware store and grab some tubing and hardware tomorrow, probably.
