Pune is a city very close to the metropolis of Memebai. So, majority of Pune population comes from two types of people:
1. Rich people who don't want to share the same breathing space with an average slum dweller in Mumbai
2. People who can't afford to buy homes in Memebai so they buy one in the city closest to it
The formers don't care about metros as they moved their to be the Elites instead of being middle class in Memebai and the latter just want Pune to become the second memebai. Which leads to why it has a metro, even though the biggest selling point of Pune was it's quieter with more natural beauty than Pune.
If you had paid attention to my rants, and noticed subtle differences in the pics, you may have noticed how there were plenty of differences between infrastructure. These were nothing but cost cutting measures to build cheaper and faster metros.
Pune metros come at a time where the government started to realize you crazy expensive Metros are, even after these cost cuttings and how much unprofitable they are. But still being huge vote winners, you can see they went all in cost cutting in Pune metro in the pics.
