>>1188491according to contemporary American propaganda published in Popular Mechanics, the B-26 had a positive K/D versus German fighters. very credible.
I know that's not a B-26 but it catalyzed a Wikipedia crusade. Other things I learned:
- The De Havilland Comet raced with variable pitch propellers that used a bicycle pump to get fine pitch and then bled off the pressure in flight.
- one of the Granville brothers died delivering a Gee Bee ( top kek)
- the movie Airplane is based off of is based off a true story, sort of
- there was a 10 year thing where the French and American gov'ts basically backed two women in their quest to one up each other for the speed record (from F-86s to some Mirage variant)
why won't the gubbernmint give me fighter jets to race? I eat my vegetables n everything
