What is the difference between 9-speed and 11-speed chains?
I have here a 9-speed chain, pic related, "For all 9-speed systems", and an 11-speed chain, KMC X11, "Compatibility: SHIMANO, Campagnolo, SRAM and all other 11 speed systems".
They both say 1/2"x11/128" 114 links. So what is the difference between them? I thought the difference between 9- and 11-speed was chain width, but if they're both 11/128" what gives? Are they actually the same thing? Can actually use a 9-speed chain on my 11-speed bike and vice versa? Is the difference just marketing bullshit or what am I missing?
