>>1965863>>1965872>>1965879there is nothing wrong with planning in and of itself, it's about the design guides being followed. it's mostly coincidental that old places had a random road pattern and narrow streets that make it comfy to walk and not inviting to through-traffic but you can archive that in other ways. what old places lack for example compared to well planned modern development is separation of transit modes. take pic related for example, with local streets and access roads in blue, bike paths in green and bus-only lanes in red.
