The frame is SS specific with an EBB, no derailleur hanger. I got it used off eBay about 4 years ago and specifically wanted a steel frame for its ride qualities. It was cheap because it's "outdated" with a non tapered headset and no thru axles. But it rides super quiet and smooth, very fun. I'm not racing, so a little flex isn't going to bother me. Riding a frame made in New York and not Taiwan is kinda cool, too.
BB7s with quality cables and Paul levers is a great set up. I have no reason to go hydraulic on a simple cross country bike that doesn't see thousands of feet of descending. I might upgrade to Paul klampers if I can find some second hand.
