I bought one for cheap online, ignorantly assuming it would work with the rest of the headset. Lo and behold, it did not work. Pic related: the race interfaces with the bearings just fine but there is extra material (red arrow) which prevents the whole system from sealing. Like theres a 1/8" gap from the bearings to the outer lip (yellow arrow).
Basically it seems like its too tall to find into the bottom cup.
TLDR: Can I buy just a crown race for a threaded headset, or do I need to buy a whole new headset? If yes, how do I determine the right type without the old race?
